Massieve vulkanische (lava) gesteenten en gebreccieerde vulkanische agglomeraten. Trachiet, phonoliet, biotiet pyroxeniet, leucitiet.

Vulkanische plug die deel uitmaakt van een koepelvormige structuur.

De basis van de formatie is nog niet aangeboord.

Onlap van de Vlieland Zandsteen Formatie.

Tot 1058 m (ZDW-01).

Oxfordien - Berriasien (Van Bergen & Sissingh 2007).

Vernoemd naar de Zuidwal gasontdekking in de Waddenzee door Petroland.
